One Potato Two Potato is a joint venture production company founded by Gordon Ramsay and Optomen Television which exclusively produces all of Ramsay's new worldwide audio visual output. Renowned for high quality programming, OPTP has produced award-winning hit series on both sides of the Atlantic. In 2010 OPTP joined the All3Media group.
The company’s first US series was MasterChef which has proved to be a massive hit for FOX, garnering huge ratings and becoming a staple of Fox’s schedule. The culinary competition series takes wannabe chefs who cook as a hobby and transforms one of them in to a Master Chef. The show stars Gordon Ramsay as lead judge, alongside chef Graham Elliot and restaurateur Joe Bastianich. Gordon also serves as an Executive Producer. MasterChef returns for its fourth season on May 22nd 2013.
In September 2011 One Potato was commissioned to produce the first season of Hotel Hell for FOX. In the unscripted series, which was the biggest network hit of the summer, Gordon Ramsay travels across America attempting to fix horrid hotels, awful inns and bed & breakfasts on the brink of closure. To get to grips with the problems, Ramsay endures hotels at their worst so YOU don't have to. From dirty bedrooms and mould-ridden bathrooms to incompetent staff or customer service that's not up to par, Ramsay and his team will work with the hotel owners and employees in an attempt to turn these hapless establishments around. Some owners work with Ramsay to address the issues he’s identified, while others will refuse to take the advice they sought out, and face the consequences.
Production is underway for the second season of Hotel Hell, which will see Gordon hitting the road to fix some of America's most horrendous hotels, troubled inns and struggling resorts, many of which are on the brink of closure.
The LA office is also currently in production on Food Court Wars for Food Network. In each episode of this exciting new series, hosted by chef Tyler Florence and Executive Produced by Gordon Ramsay, two sets of aspiring restaurateurs vie to win a space at a food court by pitting their concepts and products against each other. Over the course of the show, each team faces a series of challenges, and the team that makes the most profit wins the restaurant space rent free for a year.
One Potato Two Potato's UK office has produced many successful series including Channel 4’s massive hit Gordon Behind Bars which saw Ramsay go to prison to attempt the impossible: make offenders pay their way. Gordon was locked up in the infamous Brixton Prison where he tried to set up a catering company within the prison. The series lifted the lid on the unknown world of prisons and prisoners, while revealing an ambitious solution to one of the biggest social problems facing us today: how to make criminals pay something back. Another OPTP hit series was My Kitchen, a major series for UKTV’s Good Food channel. Over 40 episodes, ten top chefs, including Antonio Carluccio and Angela Hartnett, welcomed viewers in to their homes and shared the dishes they love to cook, and the secrets of their lives in food. Gordon Ramsay brought his experience to bear as one of the show’s Executive Producers.
OPTP has also produced two series created to allow Gordon to share his passion for food and showcase his role as culinary teacher by offering detailed recipes and instruction. Gordon Ramsay’s Ultimate Cookery Course has been shown all over the world and inspired millions of people to cook for the first time or to improve their kitchen skills. The second season, Gordon Ramsay’s Ultimate Home Cooking, is currently in post-production and will be launched internationally later in 2013.
One Potato's first major UK series commission was Cookalong Live (8 x 60') for Channel 4. The series built on the success of Gordon's first live Cookalong that achieved an audience of over 4.5 million viewers and encouraged people across the country to cook with Gordon, live. The Cookalong format has generated great interest around the world and Optomen International (who represent the format on behalf of OPTP) have successfully sold the format across Europe and into the US. The US Cookalong Live (One Potato’s first US show) aired in 2009 on FOX and was a huge success in getting people across America cooking.
Other One Potato Two Potato shows include two series of travelogue Gordon's Great Escape, restaurant competition series Ramsay’s Best Restaurant, the award winning documentary Gordon Ramsay: Shark Bait, and Gordon’s Ultimate Christmas, in which Gordon shared a lifetime of chef's secrets and explained how they translate to the home so everyone can cook the perfect food over Christmas, without breaking the bank or getting stressed.
One Potato Two Potato has a number of other scripted and unscripted projects in development – both in the food genre and outside of it – in the UK, US and around the world.
