25/10/12 C4 Urges British Shoppers To Haggle In New Optomen Series

Channel 4 has tasked businessman Justin Preston with turning British shoppers into bargain hunting hagglers in a 6 x 60-minute series.

Britain’s Secret Shoppers is being made by All3Media’s Optomen and will see food supplier Preston offering tips on how to find the best bargains. He will reveal how to get the best deals on hotels, cars, kitchens and designer clothing.

Gathering secret focus groups, Preston will demonstrate the benefits of small businesses offering the best deals to retain customers and make a profit.

He will then take the groups to shops, hotels, car dealerships and restaurants to test out his techniques.

Features commissioner Katie Boyd ordered the series, with Becky Clarke exec producing.

Boyd said: “I want Justin to show us all that there’s no shame in haggling. We all work hard to earn a crust, and should be getting the best value for money available.”

“Once you’ve seen the show you’ll never pay full price again. The people in the series prove if you’ve got the bottle to give it a go, Justin’s tips really work,” said Clarke.

Preston previously fronted C4 Storyvault pilot Bulk Buy Britain, based on a TV version of website Groupon. His businesses include London’s oldest retail butcher Allens of Mayfair, meat supplier Rare! And Simply Sausages.
